Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services
The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is an independent body formed to strengthen the science-policy interface for biodiversity and ecosystem services for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, long-term human well-being and sustainable development.
It consists of over 130 member states, expert groups and a secretariat.
IPBES has collaborative partnership arrangements with the United Nations Environment Programme, UNESCO, the Food and Agriculture Organization and the United Nations Development Programme but it is not part of the UN. It is hosted in Bonn by the German government.
