UNA-UK Work in 2020
On 7 – 8 December 2020, UNA-UK held its annual membership conference, this time a virtual event, at which, among other things, it reported on the work of UNA-UK during 2020:
These included:
- Establishing UNA-UK as the coordinator of UK ICAN network (Coalition to Abolish Nuclear Weapons)
- Helping to kickstart the university campaign to ban killer robots
- Securing a pledge from the Prime Minister to “do more” on UN peacekeeping
- Holding our first ever virtual UN Day – where we presented Zeinab Badawi with this year’s Sir Brian Urquhart Award for services to the UN
- Publishing reports on key issues in the UN’s 75th year – including Climate 2020: The Path Ahead and SDGs 2020: Building Back Better
- Through our Together First Campaign, conducting a global consultation to crowdsource and prioritise 10 proposals to make the UN more effective – which were included in the UN75 report
- The vital campaign work carried out by our members and supporters during the pandemic
