UNA Youth Platform
The United Nations Association Youth Platform (UNA-YP) is an educational and collaborative project serving all youth Model United Nations (MUN) and UN-related societies, associations, groups, and interested individuals across the United Kingdom.
It promotes awareness of global and national issues through meaningful outreach projects, Sustainable Development Groups (SDGs) education and collaborations.
In June 2020, it was formally recognised by UNA-UK’s board of trustees, and has since evolved to become an organisation built on the foundations of young people interested in the workings of the United Nations.
Their Mission is to prepare future generations with the skills and focus needed to tackle an ever-changing society, accelerating and amplifying our voices to strengthen our global community.
Their Core Objectives are to prepare future generations with the skills and focus needed to tackle an ever-changing society, accelerating and amplifying our voices to strengthen our global community under the following themes.
Education
Through workshops, discussion, coaching and online courses, provide quality, impactful, and lasting SDGs education and foster meaningful personal development for full attainment of their identity as a global citizen, improving personal development, awareness and activism skills. This includes educating and promoting a greater understanding of the role, functions and potential of the United Nations, with special emphasis on the Sustainable Development Goals and empowering youth to become involved in its realisation, reform and development.
Discussion
Provide a national landscape for the discussion of international issues relevant to youth, pertaining both to the UK and the international community. They discuss best practices, issues and developments pertaining to the UK Model UN circuit of conferences and provide workbooks and workshops to local youth MUN and UN-related societies.
Advocacy
Promote youth engagement and awareness on social, national and international issues through online seminars, events, campaigns and social media. They hope to equip youths at any stage of education with the understanding of their identity as global citizens.
Campaign
Campaign for and establish the UK’s official UN Youth Delegate Programme, UNESCO Youth Delegate Programme and other campaigns, and upon establishment take an active role in the selection processes.
