The Warwick Model United Nations (MUN) Society is the contact point with the United Nations’ work and core values for students at the University of Warwick. We are committed to familiarising our members, as well as the local public, with democratic dialogue, humanitarianism, equality, and other UN principles.
The Society runs weekly training sessions to ensure our members are prepared for MUN conferences in the UK and abroad by expanding their horizons and demonstrating how to apply diplomacy in practice.
Apart from sending Warwick delegations to external conferences, we also organise our own annual Warwick MUN Conference (WarMUN), which is focused on “Crisis” committees and has a nationwide reputation for being the first exclusively crisis conference in the UK. Throughout the years, we have succeeded in creating an inclusive community of students of all walks of life and degrees, but who all share a passion for international politics.
The Society is increasingly engaging in external activities to promote the spirit of the UN in the local community. Our Outreach Programme includes cooperating with Coventry University’s Humanities Society, organising a high-school level conference for schools in the area, as well as working with a local sixth-form to start an MUN club for its students. The UN Association of the UK branch in Coventry is a key partner in many of these initiatives, and we are grateful for their continued support.
