Israel starting wild fires in south Lebanon
It is reported in the Guardian and elsewhere, based on evidence shown in videos and on testimony from first responders, that in the nearly two-months since the 17 June 2026 ceasefire, Israel has been dropping incendiary bombs from drones and firing phosphorus shells at long-established woodlands, olive groves and agricultural land in south Lebanon.
This is part of Israel’s longstanding practice of targeting Lebanon’s natural environment. In addition, olive groves and agricultural land has been destroyed.
Israel’s military was asked for comment on each of the wildfire incidents, but did not respond.
