Find out more about them at www.una.org.uk

International Young Peoples Peace Essay Competition
This ran for the first time in 2020 and was very well received. We are very keen to obtain entries from around the world. For more information see the website https://youngpeoplespeaceessay.org/ and the report on the 2020 competition.
Due to COVID-19 we are currently organising most of our events as video conferences. Many of these take the form of debates on a particular topic. Recent topics have included nuclear disarmament and human trafficking.
Coventry Climate Action Network (CovCAN)
This is a network of people who want to promote action on climate change. We need help in managing the group and also in developing stories for the website covcan.uk.
Sustainable Development Forum
We are working with people from Coventry and Warwick universities to develop a forum in which people interested in the issues surrounding sustainable development can meet, share ideas and work on joint projects.
Low Carbon Cookery Book
We have started work on producing a cookery book providing low-carbon recipes that will appeal to a wide audience and also showing how their carbon footprint compares to standard British food. We need people to check the accuracy of the carbon footprint calculator we have produced, to gather recipes (with photos), to assess their carbon footprints, to select them for taste, to produces pages containing the recipe, to edit the book and take part in the publishing process including design and marketing.
Mental Health of Muslim Community
UNA Coventry’s project focuses on the issues of mental health and wellbeing in Coventry’s Muslim community. Mental health is a taboo subject for them. We will explore the source of Muslim’s anxieties related both to the individual’s personal circumstances and to issues such as Islamophobia.
We will work with local Imams, Coventry Haven and organisations such as Mind and the NHS to organise conversations with Muslim communities around Coventry.
Coventry RJ Stories
Restorative Justice is an alternative and very effective way of delivering justice in the case of crime and anti-social behaviour. But very few people are aware of it or get offered it in case of being a victim of crime. Coventry RJ Stories aims to make people more aware of it and to collect their stories of when they have taken part in RJ or would like to have done so.
We get a lot of volunteers who want to help us, and we need somebody who will process their applications, talk to them about our projects and work with them to decide which one(s) they want to help with.
Social Media Manager
We need people who can help us promote all the above activities on social media, on our websites and in the broadcast and published media.
We need people to help us run fun events that can help us raise funds to cover the cost of our activities.
Now please enter your details below and tell us which projects you are interested in.
