Peacekeepers Day Conference on 23 May is the UK’s most authoritative public review of UN peacekeeping activities – bringing together UN practitioners, diplomats, military personnel and the public for an in-depth discussion on the most pressing issues in peacekeeping today. It is organised annually by UNA-UK, RUSI and UNA Westminster as near as possible to the official International Day of UN Peacekeepers on 29 May.
This year the panel session features peacekeeping experts and practitioners, focusing on peacekeeper training and marking 75 years of UN Peacekeeping:
- Hester Adriana Paneras, Head of Institutional and Operational Partnership Service at United Nations Office to the African Union
- Dr Georgina Holmes, Lecturer in Politics and International Studies at The Open University
- Nicholas Haysom, Special Representative, Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan
- Ramona Taheri, Executive Director, Peace Operations Training Institute
- Marissa Conway, CEO of United Nations Association UK
