Pact for the Future
The world is not on track to meet the goals we have already set for ourselves. Nor are we effectively rising to new challenges or opportunities.
The United Nations Summit of the Future, to be held from 22 to 23 September 2024, will bring world leaders together to forge a new international consensus on how we deliver a better present and safeguard the future.
The Summit will adopt a concise, action-oriented outcome document entitled “A Pact for the Future”, agreed in advance by consensus through intergovernmental negotiations.
The first draft of the Pact for the Future was published on 26 January 2024. It can be read below.
It commits to concrete action in five broad areas:
- Sustainable development and financing for development
- International peace and security
- Science, technology and innovation and digital cooperation
- Youth and future generations
- Transforming global governance
