UNA Coventry volunteers to produce social media posts
Aim of this project
UNA Coventry wants to inform young people about the United Nations and international issues in a way that will reach them and appeal to them. The best way to do this seems to be by using social media.
Where to post
As a result of a survey among our volunteers, who are mostly university students, we know their most popular social media are Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok and YouTube in that order.
These are therefore the main social media we will aim to be posting to.
Volunteers with UNA Coventry are there invited to produce posts suitable for these social media. See below on how to send us your posts. Of course, you can also send your posts to your own social media accounts!
Content of posts
Your posts should be relevant to global affairs and/or the United Nations. The posts should be such as to be of interest to readers of high school or university age.
If you need ideas for what your post could be about, look through the list some of our recent posts on this website unacov.uk/recent-posts. There is also a list of UN Specialised Agencies, Entities, Bodies and Related Organisations at unacov.uk/un-specialized-agencies and you could produce a post dealing with one of them.
You might post about forthcoming International Days which the UN recognises. You can find some of them listed on our website.
Or you could simply give your own ideas, for example what is your opinion about the UN, what are its problems and benefits, what needs to be done to make it more effective or more respected by world powers and so on.
You might want to mention United Nations Association Coventry or include our logo, although these are not obligatory. If you want to download the logo, click here and it will be downloaded. You will need to adjust the size when you add it to your post.
Images
Your posts should ideally contain images or videos but it is very important they are not subject to copyright otherwise UNA Coventry will have to pay to use them!
UNA branches like ours can use images produced by the UN without payment.
Images free of copyright can be found at https://search.creativecommons.org/. We can only use images marked as being in the public domain.
The website TinEye.com will check if an online image is subject to copyright.
How to send us your posts
Please send us your posts via email or by uploading to the Internet and we will review and publish them on https://www.instagram.com/unacoventry/.
Either email your files, perhaps as separate images/videos/text, to unacoventry@gmail.com.
Or upload them to https://wetransfer.com/ and tell WeTransfer to send an email to the above address. We will then then download them.
