Big Iftar is an event to encourage neighbourliness and community through the sharing of Iftar (an evening meal taken by Muslims at sunset to end their days Ramadan fast during).
In 2016 it was celebrated in Coventry Cathedral on the evening of 20 June. After a welcome by the Dean of Coventry, the very Rev John Whitcombe and Imam Usman Qureshi of the Eagle Street Mosque, there was a presentation from the Eden Girls School.
Maghrib prayers were then held, followed by the Iftar meal in the native of the cathedral.
UNA Coventry Branch Chair Shagufta Hamid-Khan and Secretary Philip Brown attended this event.
