UNA-UK will organise a celebration of the life and legacy of Kofi Annan from 5pm to 8pm on 3 June 2019 at Central Hall Westminster – where the UN held its first meetings.
The late Kofi Annan said “more than ever before in human history, we share a common destiny. We can master it only if we face it together.”
This year will see decisions that will profoundly affect the lives of people in this country and beyond – from Britain’s role and relationship with the wider world, to crucial UN meetings on climate change and multilateralism. UNA-UK will be working hard to ensure that we “Keep Britain Global” through our foreign policy campaign, and that our international system is equipped and willing to address the catastrophic risks we face, through our new “Together First” initiative.
While he was certainly not perfect, his presence is sorely missed at this time. We are delighted to be working with a number of partners, including the Kofi Annan Foundation, to hold a large public event to celebrate the life and legacy of Kofi Annan. We strongly felt that the man who did so much to open up the UN to “we the peoples”, would want people from all walks of life to attend, and not just a select few.
Our stellar line-up of speakers and special guests include Mary Robinson, former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and more will be announced shortly. Members will receive a 20% discount and will have advance notice of the ticket link.
