On 8 September, This is Our Age will be running a peace event in the University of Warwick Arts Centre from 10:00 to 16:00.
This is our Age Peace Festival will include:
- Seeds of Hope and Action exhibition: co-created by SGI-UK and Earth Charter International on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Hiroshima Peace Day: an event on peace and nuclear disarmament
- Peace Fayre: with youth workshops, music, and family-friendly activities
The Peace Festival seeks to empower today’s youth in our local communities and foster unity and collective action in society.
The “This is Our Age” initiative is created by young people from SGI-UK, with the aim of fostering a sustainable and harmonious world through promoting the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is based on Buddhist philosophy and guided by the principle of ‘leaving no one behind’.
It supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is led by SGI-UK – see below.
The event will be co-hosted by the University of Warwick and SGI-UK.

SGI-UK
SGI-UK is part of Soka Gakkai International (SGI), an organisation which exists to promote peace, culture and education through the philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism.
The Soka Gakkai International (SGI) is a non-governmental worldwide Buddhist organisation founded for the creation of value with more than 12 million members across the globe. It has been in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 1983. Soka Gakkai International and Earth Charter International jointly created the Seeds of Hope and Action Exhibition, which uses the “Learn, Reflect, Empower, Lead” formula outlined in Daisaku Ikeda’s proposal on education for sustainable development.
