Warwick District UN Association will host a Zoom presentation by Dr Nabi Sahak from Kings College London on 7 September.
Nabi is an academic in the War Studies Department at King’s College London. Nabi obtained a BA in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University, United States. He then received a Rotary Foundation Peace Fellowship that funded his studies at the University of Queensland, Australia where he completed his MA in Peace and Conflict studies. After graduating from the UQ, Nabi received the Fulbright scholarship from the US/UK Fulbright Commissions for his PhD at the King’s College London.
Nabi will address and explore a range of issues including the Taliban and domestic political situation, the economy, post-war development, the rights of Afghan women, and the country’s role in regional and international affairs, and the influence from major powers such as the United States, Russia, and China.
Nabi’s expertise is in the Anglo/Afghanistan relations, Afghanistan/Iranian relations, Afghanistan’s relationship with Pakistan, India and Russia relations and Anglo-Afghan military and diplomatic history.
In the coming weeks, governments and international organizations must work through an approach to the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan. It will not be simple.
Dr Nabi Sahak was a BBC Reporter in Afghanistan 1997-2002 and is a recipient of a scholarship from the Fulbright Commission.
