On 16 March the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University will run a webinar to discuss the background and the evolving implications of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
On February 24, Russia’s leaders launched the military invasion of Ukraine, on a scale not seen in Europe since the Second World War, following months of military build-up along the border in both Belarus and Russia. In this webinar event CTPSR’s Professor Matt Qvortrup and the director the think tank, Centre of Political and Foreign Affairs, Kelly Alkhouli, discuss the circumstances leading up the invasion, along with the implications that the invasion and occupation has on global politics.
Are we heading towards another world war?
What are the risks of nuclear annihilation?
What are Putin’s objectives?
What are the possibilities (if at all) of ceasefire and de-escalation?
The event will be chaired by Sir Ciaran Devane.
To join the webinar please complete the registration process.
