Coventry Young People’s Peace and Reconciliation Conference 2019
on the morning of Friday 8 November 2019 in Coventry Council House.
Peace Circles
Young people and peace activists will sit together in facilitated circles in which everyone has an equal right to speak and be heard.
Voices of Young People
Young people will be able to explain how they feel about violence, knife crime, gangs etc.
What problems do they face? What do they think needs to be done?
Voices of Activists
Teachers, Police, PeaceMakers, Restorative Justice facilitators and members of the community will talk about what they are already doing to promote safety and peace and what challenges they face.
Brainstorming New Ideas
Circles will brainstorm what more can be done to reduce violence and conflict and increase peace, justice, forgiveness and reconciliation. Students will say what action they want to take in their school or community and adults will explain how they could support them.
Presentation of Ideas
The event will end with a summary of the ideas raised and Coventry Lord Mayor’s Committee for Peace and Reconciliation will announce how they will help young people, schools and peace activists put their ideas into practice.
