OCHA reports record year for complex crises
The 2017 annual report UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) describes record humanitarian needs due to protracted complex crises, the escalation of conflict in several countries, climate change-induced vulnerability and a series of natural disasters. The report takes stock of actions and activities during 2017, highlighting the role of the organization, Member States, and other United Nations and civil-society partners in ensuring that the most vulnerable people in crises received timely and quality humanitarian assistance.
OCHA appealed for a record $23.5 billion need to help 141 million of the world’s most vulnerable people.
