Warwick District United Nations Association is honoured and delighted to welcome Dr Abiodun Williams on Saturday 7th November 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm, at Leamington Spa Baptist Church, Chandos Street, Leamington Spa, CV32 4RN. Dr Williams will join us live from Washington, DC, for this hybrid event, open to both in-person and online attendees, and address the subject “Challenges Facing the Next UN Secretary-General”.
Dr Williams is a scholar-practitioner with a distinguished career spanning the United Nations, think tanks, and academia. At the UN, he served as Director of Strategic Planning for Secretaries-General Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon and held senior roles in peacekeeping missions in North Macedonia, Haiti & Bosnia-Herzegovina.
He later served as President of The Hague Institute for Global Justice and held leadership positions at the United States Institute of Peace. Most recently, Dr Williams was Professor at The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University, where he also directed the Institute for Global Leadership. He is the author of five books, including Kofi Annan & Global Leadership at the United Nations.
