During the weekend of 1 and 2 July, the University of Warwick will run its annual RAWKUS project. This aims to save food surplus and other items from 900 kitchens when students leave halls at the end of a term or year.
Since RAWKUS began in 2014, 10s of tonnes of food and useful articles have been saved from being thrown in the bin. It has all either been given to local charities and food banks or used in the university’s Pay As You Feel Market at the beginning of the following term or academic year so incoming students can purchase second hand items. All money raised is given to charity.
This is only made possible by having volunteers willing to spend some time to help.
They need volunteers during that weekend to help them continue to tackle carbon emissions and reduce the waste produced from campus each year.
Please consider signing up at: www.warwick.ac.uk/rawkus. And please share this opportunity with friends and networks.
