On 13 October, Nawal Slemiah will talk about the the work of the Women in Hebron Co-operative and its response to recent developments in the West Bank.
She will be speaking at 19:00 in Friends Meeting House, Hill Street, Coventry CV1 4AN (off Corporation Street). Belgrade Plaza car park three minutes’ walk.
Women in Hebron is a Palestinian nonprofit fair trade cooperative established under the Idna Cooperative Association for Embroidery and Handicrafts. Idna is a mid-sized Palestinian city of around 25,000 people, located to the southwest of Hebron in the West Bank.
Nawal says: ‘Our work is an act of community, strengthening the role of women, and a means to show sumud – steadfastness in the face of occupation’.
Women in Hebron helps women in the Hebron district provide for themselves and their families through the production and sales of Palestinian handicraft items.
Handicrafts from the co-op will be on sale at the event. Donations also welcome.
