Trine Rosengren Pejstrup is a Research Assistant at the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS). She has worked with United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) and United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR).
Trine Rosengren Pejstrup`s research Report explores how trust deficits between UN member states and declining confidence in the UN’s capabilities critically impact disarmament, arms control, and non-proliferation. In finding that the lack of trust and confidence extends beyond mere compliance issues to deeper concerns about the sincerity and integrity of treaty negotiations across nuclear and conventional arms discussions, the report underscores the urgent need to address inherent tensions to prevent further global instability and insecurity.
Trine`s research has led her to work with the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNIDO) which supports the Secretary-General, Member States, and civil society groups in their disarmament efforts. UNODA works to promote nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, and provide support for the disarmament of weapons of mass destruction. She has also worked with the UN Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) and also the Disarmament Commission of the UN General Assembly and the UN Secretariat.
Trine Rosengren Pejstrup works broadly in the field of defence and security policy, international relations, and technological development. Specifically, she is interested in the sociopolitical implications of the development and use of defence technologies, as well as the impact of the arms industry and international arms trade on gender and power relations.
As a research assistant affiliated with DIIS Tech, Trine has contributed to discussions on the political and democratic implications of defence technologies, the Danish defence industry, and Denmark’s role in outer space. She draws on knowledge from her bachelor’s thesis on the UN First Committee’s work on outer space security, her master’s thesis on the Danish defence industry, as well as her established network in the multilateral disarmament and arms control sphere, gained through her time at the UN Secretariat.
