UNA Coventry’s Litter Pick featured in local press
In September, UNA Coventry working with students from Eden Girls’ School and Coventry University, young people from Gurdwara Guru Nanak Parkash, police officers and Coventry City Council spent two hours collecting litter during the Great British September Clean organised by Keep Britain Tidy.
The story was featured in the Coventry Observer in early October. You can read it here.
We used litter pickers and hoops generously supplied by World Against Single Use Plastics and Coventry City Council. We filled several bags of litter which were collected later that day by Council officers.
Anand Patel, Principal of Eden Girls’ School, Coventry, praised the team for said: “The pupils involved had a very enjoyable day and were pleased to see how their efforts helped to make a real difference.”
And indeed collecting litter is a good deal more interesting than you might think. There is satisfaction in picking up the rubbish that others have carelessly thrown down and leaving the world slightly more beautiful than you found it.
At the end of the event, several people were asking when the next litter picking event would take place.
